POETRY

It Will, Though

The winter of our pandemic is approaching.
When we go inside anyway, when we breathe
each other most. What will we look like come
spring? Someone said to Gertrude Stein that
Picasso’s portrait of her bore her no
resemblance. “It will, though,” she said.

Craig Finlay is a poet and librarian currently living in rural southern Oklahoma, where he also teaches humanities and composition at a small community college.  His poems have appeared in dozens of journals, most recently Griffel, Apricity Magazine, Sheila-Na-Gig Online and The Windsor Review. His debut collection, The Very Small Mammoths of Wrangel Island, is forthcoming from Urban Farmhouse Press.

    Dear Craig Finley,
Often when I find a poem I like in a journal, I want to read more of that poet’s work, your poem, “Why I Took Up Baking, Right When It Got Popular” in Pembroke Magazine, is such a poem. By the way my poem is on page 197. Alas it’s beyond my means to buy everyone’s book, so I had this idea that you might consider swapping one of your books for one of mine. Perhaps you’d be interested in The Weight of Bodily Touches. I have four other books to choose from, you can see the covers and some reviews on my website http://www.josephzaccardi.com
I know you’re probably overwhelmed with writing and thinking the deep thoughts required of poetry, so there’s no need to reply if you’re not interested in swapping books.
However, if this does appeals to you, please let me know.
    Sincerely, Joe
