POETRY

At the time

With a past, a heap of sadness
Upholstered from top to bottom with brilliant remorse
Crying and tears made such a stream
Let there be in me only a desert without rivers.

Here I have touched the jackpot of pain
And on this occasion I erect a monument
To build a memory and an eternal reminder
And the emblem will dig in hearts and thoughts.

And who knew that sadness could lead to bravery
In the desert crying by streams
Wild animals incarnated into lambs.

O era, o era, your time is to be pitied
But the old ground, within where I grew up
The tears that flowed made meadows!

Chokoro Nderhe Paulin is from Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo. He started writing poetry at the age of 13. His first french poetry book Les abus de l’Odyssée was published at Lys Bleu Édition, in Paris, France.
