This was a tough month. I am stuck between resignation and hope. There is hope even in the dark. We have to hope and we have to vote.

Get Up, Stand Up, by Bob Marley.
It says it all, and it says it with style.
Expect no Mercy, by Nazareth.
“Don’t look around for no help, no, no there won’t be any around.” We’ve got a bad case of puritanism, and I’m afraid it’s going to take a long time to overcome it.
Flying Blind, by The Electric Prunes
Somehow this was the first song I thought of for this month. It just fits.
For What it’s Worth, by Buffalo Springfield.
We thought things were going to change.
Brand New Key, by Melanie.
I know this is a stretch, but this list was kind of morbid. It was such a good day, soured by the government, or course. Plus, I’m running out of time. Besides, this song is all about overcoming, it is a gentler, kinder Get Up Stand Up. I just feel better every time I hear it.
Tim Clark lives in Columbus, OH. He is an employee, a husband, a father and a blogger. You can see his blog here, Life Explained. He writes occasionally and with pride for Street Speech, a local homeless advocacy newspaper. He is contributor for The Ugly Writers and the Good Men Project. He is particularly vain about his monthly column on The Wild Word. He is working on a novel.
Definitely get up stand up. Says everything.
Bob Marley, 100%!
For what it’s worth. Man, I love that song.
Flying blind. From one of the best albums of this century
Brand New Key, by Melanie. Girl power, from the old times
I’ll have to give these a listen. The only one I remember as a kid was Brand New Key.
