POETRY

Faith

Faith is a wide-eyed child
gazing with marvel
at the new moon
undismayed
by its thinness
knowing its size
though he only sees
a tiny slice of it
Faith waits nightly
for the crescent to fill out
like a famished animal
unfolding the full extent
of its light
phase after phase

Jackie Chou is a poet whose work is inspired by her inner world and the urban landscape where she grew up.  Her work has appeared in Alien Buddha Zine, Cajun Mutt Press, Spillwords, Highland Park Poetry, and Fevers of the Mind Poetry Digest.  Besides writing, she loves to watch Jeopardy and thriller movies.
