POETRY

A Fetish

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
when at the sight of your feet
my mind sparkled fantasies,
glittering like sunlight come to greet
and caress Aden’s seas.

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
when I touched and I dared
—your steps flirting with the breeze—
to feel like the desert laid bare,
that the winds love to tease.

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
when the smell of your scent
had me drunk with envy,
and on your soles down I went
to satisfy my fancy.

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
when at the taste of your feet,
at your smile and your tease,
my passion turned to heat
to adore and to please.

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
at the sound of my treats,
kisses stroke on your skin,
my heart like Hargeysa’s streets,
all buzzing and sanguine.

I was dreaming of Somaliland,
when the sight of your feet
awoke fantasies,
flickering like sunlight come to greet
and caress Aden’s seas.
