POETRY
In Spring
I will plant fennel
for the swallowtails,
paint the porch rails,
read a hundred books,
run a thousand miles,
end world hunger,
bring peace.
I will do many,
many things
in spring.
For now, ice
is on the steps
and the snowy
hill is steep.
All I want to do
is sleep.
