mediterranean dreams

rooted in sicily
i grew transplanted under polaris
tended by two
learned in the knowledge of that distant shore
that by keeping roots warm
everything blooms
prickly pear
vinifera grapes
figs, both black and white
this land and water once unlocked
luxurient and plentiful
grew dreams and futures
beyond the planting of their first seeds
